The story of Araura focuses on two lead characters - Anea Branduill and Renzia Windlance. Anea is the last Arauran, ascendant beings able to channel miraculous power through the spirits of the world of Sereth. She has been discovered living in a cursed region that has come to be known as The Darklands. Renzia is a young contractor doing odd jobs for just enough money to get by. He puts on the act of a lazy scoundrel, but buried beneath the facade is a tortured hero just looking to disappear. As a result of a particular set of circumstances, the two of them have become close friends over the past five years - developing a sibling-type bond.

The Kingdom of Burgonne has sent their most elite unit, The Silver Guard, to retrieve Anea in hopes of unravelling the mystery of The Vanishing of Araura. In the process of escorting Anea to Burgonne, the mission takes a disastrous turn as the entire unit is wiped out by a single assassin - the famed warrior Omaku Higaro. It appears that his target is Anea, but why? What could have pushed this once honorable warrior to commit such an act? With the aid of two surviving knights, Anea is able to escape the ambush. Assessing the situation, she makes the unpopular decision to hire Renzia to be her guide to Burgonne along a secret route.

Throughout The Darklands, Renzia has become infamously known for his lazy behavior and disingenuous attitude This has caused those close to Anea to question her decision. People respect her wisdom - even for one so young - but what could she be thinking?

There have been times however that Renzia has shown promise - dare one say even a heroic nature. But those are just rumors of a forgotten time, spoken of in whispers behind closed doors.
